Disability-friendly Farm Coming to Coorooman
On the homepage, we briefly touched on Able 2 Care’s next big project, which was to create a disability-friendly farm. We are incredibly proud of this project and cannot wait for it to open so carers and clients can come visit. Construction began earlier this month, so we would like to share more details about the final vision!
The Property
The seven-acre farm property Is located in the quiet rural area of Coorooman, about 14kms from Yeppoon. Here on the farm, carers and clients will be able to interact with lots of animals such as mini goats, mini sheep, miniature cows, chickens, and even gentle Clydesdale horses.
Gardens and Walking Tracks
Apart from the lovely animals, there will be lots of fresh produce growing on the farm which can be picked. We’ll have season fruits and vegetables, as well as a greenhouse for herbs. These garden beds will be set at wheelchair accessible height so everyone can enjoy gardening and picking edible flowers. There will also be a Eucalypt glade with walking tracks, which are also designed for wheelchair access. The glade will have plenty of benches and tables to stop at so the birdlife and scenery can be admired.
Farm Accomodation
In its final stages of development, the farm property will also have six 2-bedroom units and camping facilities on-site. Further details on accommodation will be announced closer to the property’s opening!
